She texted asking what plans were for the weekend and found out her best girlfriend was going on a date. With excitement, she was giddy to get all of the details from a series of questions. It was a solo date to no disappointment. Her friend had started the habit weeks ago and she was happy to support the self love.
Incorporating days of enjoyment into your life puts forth a conscious intention of preserving balance and building experiences. Whether the day includes a loved one or focuses on loving yourself, here are 4 easy steps to plan your ideal day of leisure.
- Pick a location
Sounds so simple, and can be, but being mindful of intention and matching a location to what you want to create within the day can pose the dilemma of indecision. Go through a few choices that include local spots that you have visited before and locations that are new. No day of leisure includes stress for time, so be aware of places that are too far to travel within a day. If you have more time, a road trip is a great idea.
- Purchase a beverage or treat of choice
Our senses are heightened in a pleasant environment when we incorporate taste and smell, whether it’s your favorite cocktail or coffee. Our brain triggers relaxation and joy when we treat ourselves with something tasty.

- Participate in a favored activity
We have the privilege to do things everyday that we need to do and that we enjoy. Sometimes, our activities can feel like an obligation and in other moments, we are filled with gratitude to be able to go to the gym and come home to cook a meal.
A day of leisure includes an activity that isn’t in the usual schedule. Pick an experience that truly feels euphoric and lightens you for the rest of the day.
- Practice well-being
Integrating wellness into your day can look very different from your favored activity. The experience of well-being can be a new experience or a practice that you participate in habitually. If you wake up every morning and journal, then incorporate the habit into your day of leisure. The day can include routine behaviors that you love and enjoy.

Personally Leah,
When I push past the guilt of feeling like I should be spending my time on production, my planned days of leisure always reset me and open my mind to moments of growth and new perspectives.
Favorite location: Sierra Nevada mountain range
Favorite beverage: Americano with a smidge of whole milk
Favorite activity: social strolling
Favorite well-being practice: float therapy
I set an intention each month to schedule a day of leisure, check out my last day of leisure in Mendocino, Ca.
Leoluna loves you~
