What Is The Difference Between Mindfulness and Mindset?

She felt she was two opposing things within herself; someone who wanted to live without roots, so she could spend days swinging from the branches of different trees colliding with someone who could sit still for years, watching the slow changes of color over time.  Could she sit still and swing simultaneously?

Our lifestyle rotates in and out so many changes with new interests based on goals, obligations based on choices, and stability based on priorities.  We consciously decide how to live based on events and experiences that most times are not controlled by us.  What is controlled are the ways we respond and act through mindset and mindfulness.

The daily thoughts of reacting and processing in building goals

In the past decade, the idea of “mindset” has become mainstream and most understand it simply as coining a term that represents the way we think and the opinions we have.  The power in mindset is how we can change it depending on goals and desires.  Based on how we want to live, our mindset can build behaviors that react and practice specific perspectives.  Our lifestyle is driven by mindset and therefore our mindset is reinforced by our lifestyle.

The conscious awareness of moments in space

The awareness of a whole situation with body and mind in connection with how your presence and behavior interacts with others and environments is a mindfulness practice.  It takes a focused effort to practice mindfulness; to practice being fully aware of surroundings and your place within the space.  Our environment greatly influences the way we experience a moment, too much stuff can clutter the mind and stress the body.  Our home is sacred, if you want some tips on How To Create A Minimalist Home read through the article and put steps into practice.

Mindfulness is a practice- Mindset is a lifestyle

Both hands on each side of the body, mindfulness and mindset work together to benefit and influence your life.  Mindfulness helps awareness of opportunity, relationships, and effects. Our mindset collaborates with our practices of mindfulness and each concept is integrated into our lifestyle.  With mindfulness and mindset working together, our mindsets look through a lense that is open to interpreting everything around us instead of only interpreting what affects us.  It broadens our understanding and perspective of how we are all a part of each other rather than us being separate.

However you want to live and whatever your goals may be, they need to be clearly identified and established.  What goals are you clearly mindful of as of right now? If someone asked you to write down your goals for the next week, the next month, the next year; could you clearly communicate them?

Our practices of being mindful towards the opportunities life gives funnels through to our mindset on life and builds a lifestyle you want with clarity and intention.  Create, build, and share the mindset you have in the comments below.  What are your thoughts on how mindfulness and mindset interact? We love to hear your thoughts and practices!
